Dorma Privacy Policy
Your dreams are personal, so this page explains plainly what Dorma keeps, why, who helps us run it, and how you stay in control.
Dorma is not a medical, psychological or therapeutic service. It offers reflections and possibilities about your dreams. It does not diagnose, treat or give clinical advice. If you are going through something difficult, please reach out to a qualified professional or your local emergency services.
1. Who we are
Dorma is an iOS app operated by FEJEN DİJİTAL PAZARLAMA DANIŞMANLIK TİCARET LİMİTED ŞİRKETİ (“Fejen Ltd.”, “we”, “us”).
- Email: help@dorma.fejen.com
Fejen Ltd. is the data controller for the personal data described here.
2. What we collect, and where it comes from
We only collect what the app needs to work. Everything below is tied to your account (an account ID created when you sign in with Apple), unless we say otherwise.
2.1 Account information
- Your Apple sign-in identity. Dorma uses Sign in with Apple only. Apple gives us a stable account identifier and, if you choose to share them, your name and email address. The email may be a private relay address from Apple.
- Account timestamps (when the account was created and last active), your app language choice and your time zone (for example
Europe/Istanbul), so reflections arrive at sensible times.
2.2 What you write and record
- Dreams. The text of each dream, its date, and any details you add, such as the mood or whether you knew you were dreaming.
- Voice input. If you speak a dream, speech is turned into text on your iPhone (see section 6). Only the resulting text is saved. Audio is never sent to us.
- Conversations about a dream. The messages you exchange in a dream’s conversation, and the closing reflection.
- Cultural readings. If you ask for a reading from a cultural or religious tradition, we save which tradition you chose and the reading, together with that dream.
2.3 What Dorma creates for you
- Interpretations of each dream from three perspectives (Freud, Jung, Lacan).
- Images: a generated image for each dream, symbol images, and images for weekly and monthly reflections. They are stored in our cloud storage under your account.
- Weekly and monthly reflections, and your unconscious map (themes and symbols that recur across your dreams).
- A notifications inbox: the notifications we have sent you, kept for 90 days.
2.4 Personal details you choose to share (only with your permission)
If you allow it (see section 5), Dorma remembers small details about your life. They come from your answers after a dream, from your dream conversations, or from details you add yourself in Settings. Examples are your work, the people close to you, or what you are going through.
These details are grouped into categories: work, relationships, family, health, living situation, education, loss, identity, interests, physical appearance, and other. For each detail we keep the text, its category, when it applies, and a short history of how it changed.
For each detail that comes from a conversation, an automated check also records whether the detail seems safe to bring up again later. This is not a diagnosis, and no person reviews it. Its only job is to keep a detail that may describe a crisis out of later reflections, so it is never quoted back to you without warning.
2.5 Purchases
Apple handles all payments. We never see your card or bank details. From Apple we receive and store transaction records: product, transaction ID, purchase and renewal dates, subscription status and refunds. We use them to unlock what you bought. We also keep your dream credit balance and its history.
2.6 Device and technical data
- Push notification token, if you allow notifications, so we can tell you when a reflection is ready.
- Crash and hang reports from your iPhone. These are technical reports, such as where the app stopped, app version, iOS version and device model. They contain no dream content. They are saved under your account so we can fix problems.
- Anti-abuse signals. When you create a dream, the app sends a device-check token from Apple and a device identifier that is specific to our apps. Apple checks the token to help us prevent abuse. We do not store the device identifier. While Dorma offered a free weekly dream, we kept a one-way hash of it so that allowance could not be claimed twice on the same device. We no longer add new entries, and existing ones are deleted when you delete your account.
- Server logs. Our servers write operational logs, which include your account ID, for security and troubleshooting.
2.7 What we do not collect
- No advertising identifier, no usage analytics, no tracking across other apps or websites, and no ads.
- No precise or approximate location from your device. We store only your time zone, plus any place you mention yourself in text.
- No contacts, photos, browsing history or health app data.
- No audio recordings.
3. Why we use it
| Purpose | Data used |
|---|---|
| Create and secure your account | Apple sign-in identity, name, email |
| Save your dream journal and show it on your devices | Dreams, conversations, interpretations, images, reflections |
| Generate interpretations, conversations, cultural readings, images, reflections and your map | Dream text, conversation messages, earlier dreams and interpretations, chosen tradition, settings; your saved personal details only with your permission |
| Let the figure in your dream images resemble you | Your saved appearance details, only with that specific permission |
| Unlock subscriptions and credits; handle renewals and refunds | Apple transaction records, credit balance |
| Send notifications you turned on | Push token, notification settings |
| Keep the service safe and prevent abuse | Server logs, device hash, transaction records |
| Fix crashes and improve the app | Crash and hang reports |
We do not sell your data. We do not use your dreams or personal details for advertising. We do not use your content to train AI models.
4. Legal bases (GDPR and KVKK)
- To provide the service you asked for (GDPR Art. 6(1)(b); KVKK Art. 5(2)(c)): your account, journal, interpretations, images and purchases.
- Your explicit consent (GDPR Art. 9(2)(a); KVKK Art. 6): dream content and saved personal details can reveal sensitive information, such as your health, beliefs, sexual life or ethnic origin. We process it, and send it to AI service providers in the United States so they can create your interpretations, only with the explicit consent you give in the app (see section 5). You can withdraw this consent at any time in Settings. Without it, AI features pause: nothing more is sent to AI, so new dreams cannot be sent for interpretation, and conversations, cultural readings, your map, reports and new images pause. Your existing dreams and interpretations stay as they are, and you can give your consent again at any time. Withdrawal does not affect processing that happened before it.
- Legitimate interests (GDPR Art. 6(1)(f); KVKK Art. 5(2)(f)): security, abuse prevention and fixing crashes.
- Legal obligations (GDPR Art. 6(1)(c); KVKK Art. 5(2)(ç)): records we must keep by law, for example in response to lawful requests.
5. Your choices inside the app
When you first start Dorma, before you write anything, a single “Before we begin” page asks you for these things:
- Terms of use and privacy. Reading and accepting both is required to continue. We record when you accepted and which version you accepted.
- AI processing of your dreams. Interpretations, conversations, cultural readings, your map, reports and images are created by AI. A separate checkbox, unticked at the start, asks for your explicit consent. To create them, your dream text, your conversation replies and the details you allow are sent to AI service providers in the United States. Dreams can reveal sensitive things, such as your health, your sexuality or your beliefs. Your data is not used to train AI models. You can withdraw this consent at any time in Settings › Personal Context and Privacy › AI processing. Without it, AI features pause: new dreams cannot be sent for interpretation, and conversations, cultural readings, your map, reports and images stop. Your existing dreams and interpretations stay as they are. If you already used Dorma before this checkbox existed, we ask you once.
- “Let me remember what I learn about your life.” If you choose Allow, Dorma saves personal details from your answers and conversations and uses them in your interpretations, reflections and map. Your appearance is not used in images unless you turn that on separately in Settings. If you choose Not now, nothing is saved, and your dreams, interpretations and images still work in full.
- Notifications. Choose whether to be told when your weekly and monthly reflections are ready.
At any time you can open Settings › Personal Context and Privacy › Your privacy choices and change each choice separately:
- Remember: whether new personal details may be saved at all.
- In my interpretations, my reflections and your map: whether saved details may be used there.
- See yourself in your dream images: whether your appearance details may shape your dream images. They are drawn as a stylized impression, never a literal portrait. Appearance details are only used for images. They are never used in written interpretations.
Turning a choice off stops new saving or use from that moment. It does not erase details you have already saved. To erase them, use Settings › Personal Context and Privacy › Delete Personal Information, or view, edit and delete single details under Personal Information.
6. Voice input stays on your iPhone
When you speak a dream, Dorma uses Apple’s on-device speech recognition. Your voice is processed on your iPhone and never leaves it, neither to us nor to Apple’s speech servers. Only the text you then save is sent. Each language needs a one-time download of Apple’s speech model to your device.
You can also type your dreams and never use the microphone at all.
7. How AI is used
Dorma uses AI services to write interpretations, conversation replies, cultural readings, reflections and your map, and to draw images.
What is sent to the AI providers for a request:
- the text of the dream (typed or transcribed), its date and the details you added;
- your messages in that dream’s conversation;
- relevant excerpts from your earlier dreams and interpretations, so the reflection can notice patterns;
- the tradition you chose for a cultural reading;
- your language and interpretation-depth and image-style settings;
- only if you allowed it, relevant saved personal details. This can include details about health, relationships or identity. Appearance details are sent only to the image service, and only if you turned that on.
What is not sent: your name, email address, Apple account details, payment information or device identifiers. Requests do not carry your account ID.
Who processes these requests: AI service providers in the United States create the text and the images. For images, they receive a short scene description written from your dream rather than the dream text itself, though the description is about your dream. They do not use our requests to train their models, and they keep them for no more than 30 days, to monitor for abuse.
AI can be wrong. AI output may be inaccurate, incomplete or unexpected. Interpretations are possibilities to reflect on, not facts about you.
There is no automated decision that has legal or similarly significant effects on you.
8. Who else processes your data
We share data only with service providers that help us run Dorma, and only for that purpose:
| Recipient | What they do | Location |
|---|---|---|
| Cloud infrastructure provider | Sign-in accounts, database, image storage, server code, notification delivery, server logs | United States |
| Apple | Sign in with Apple, App Store payments, push notifications, crash reports, device check | United States; in the EU, Ireland |
| AI service providers | Create text and images | United States |
We may also disclose data if the law requires it, or to protect the rights and safety of users or the service.
9. Where your data is stored, and international transfers
Your data is stored with our cloud infrastructure provider in the United States, and AI requests are processed in the United States. If you live in the EU, the UK or Türkiye, your data is therefore transferred abroad. For users in the EU and the UK, these transfers rely on the European Commission’s Standard Contractual Clauses in our data processing agreements.
10. How long we keep data
-
Your journal and everything created from it (dreams, conversations, interpretations, images, reflections, map, personal details, settings, credits, purchase records under your account): kept until you delete it or delete your account.
-
A single dream: when you delete a dream, its interpretation, conversation, cultural readings, images and related memory entries are deleted with it. Weekly or monthly reflections that were already written before you deleted the dream are not rewritten, so they may still mention it. They are deleted when you delete your account.
-
Notifications inbox: 90 days.
-
Crash reports: kept under your account and deleted with it.
-
Server logs: some technical log lines include your account ID. They are deleted automatically after 30 days.
-
After you delete your account: purchase and billing records are kept by Apple. We keep only a few technical records that do not contain your journal:
- for each purchase, its transaction number, no longer linked to your account, so the same purchase cannot be used again on another account;
- if Apple refunded a credit pack, the record of that refund (its transaction number and your former account ID), as the law and abuse prevention require;
- Apple’s purchase notifications, which are no longer linked to your account;
- only if we ever made a support change to your account (for example restoring access), our internal record of that change.
Everything else is deleted with your account. Server log lines that include your account ID are deleted within 30 days.
11. Deleting your account
You can delete your account inside the app at any time:
- Settings › Delete Account (at the bottom of Settings), or
- on the purchase screen before you have bought anything: More › Account › Delete Account.
Deleting your account permanently removes your sign-in, every dream, interpretation, conversation, cultural reading, image, reflection, your map, personal details, settings, notifications, crash reports, credit balance and purchase records under your account, except the few technical records listed in section 10. It cannot be undone, and any unused credits are lost.
Because you signed in with Apple, the app asks you to confirm with Apple once more, and deleting your account also revokes Dorma’s access to your Apple ID. If you close that Apple prompt, nothing is deleted. If the revocation fails for a technical reason, your account is still deleted, and you can also remove Dorma yourself in your iPhone’s Settings › [your name] › Sign in with Apple.
Deleting your account does not cancel an App Store subscription. Please cancel it first in your iPhone’s Settings › [your name] › Subscriptions (see our Terms).
You can also ask us by email to delete your account.
12. Children
Dorma is not intended for children. You must be at least 18 to use it. If we learn that we hold data from someone younger, we will delete it. If you think a child has given us data, write to help@dorma.fejen.com.
13. Your rights
Depending on where you live (including under the GDPR and Article 11 of KVKK), you can:
- know whether we process your data, and get a copy of it;
- correct it. You can edit saved personal details directly in the app;
- delete it. You can delete single dreams, all personal details, or your whole account in the app;
- restrict or object to certain processing;
- receive your data in a portable format. Dorma has no export button in the app. Ask us by email and we will send your data as a JSON file, a structured and machine-readable format.
- withdraw consent at any time: for AI processing of your dreams in Settings › Personal Context and Privacy › AI processing, and for personal details in Settings › Personal Context and Privacy › Your privacy choices;
- complain to a supervisory authority: in Türkiye, the Personal Data Protection Authority (KVKK); in the EU or UK, your local data protection authority.
To use any of these rights, email help@dorma.fejen.com from the address linked to your account, or tell us which Apple sign-in you use. We may need to confirm it is you. We reply within 30 days at the latest, and if you live in the EU or UK, within one month at the latest.
14. Security
Data is encrypted in transit (HTTPS/TLS) and encrypted at rest by our cloud infrastructure provider. Database rules allow each account to read only its own data, and sensitive records can be written only by our servers. Payment details never reach us. Access to your data is limited to what is needed for support, security and fixing problems.
No system is perfectly secure. If a breach affects your data, we will inform you and the authorities as the law requires.
15. Changes to this policy
If we change this policy, we will update the date at the top. When a change affects your choices, the app will ask you again before the change applies to you.
